2827 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What is the anticipated number of procedures (surgical and endoscopy), if any, to be delivered at Tautara Haumaru North Shore hospital per year after relocation to the new building in April?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised Tōtara Haumaru has 150 beds, eight operating theatres and four endoscopy suites. Casemix and intra-operative timeframes vary case to case and surgeon to surgeon so a specific answer is not possible. I am further advised that a general overview of Average Length of Stay (ALOS) and volumes based on past experience at North Shore Hospital tower block suggests over 8000 theatre cases and 7500 endoscopy procedures might be performed annually once the complex is fully opened. Tōtara Haumaru, however, will be opened progressively and the estimates of procedures are dependent upon funding, workforce and growth in demand.
