2822 (2025). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Associate Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter July to September 2024 on the action ‘Work with palliative care and related partners in accordance with the Palliative Care and Healthy Ageing Strategy Action Plans to build capability and capacity in the health sector to better assist people dying with dementia mate wareware’ under the objective ‘Support people living with dementia mate wareware and their family /whānau supporters/care partners to live their best possible lives’ within Te Whatu Ora’s Improving Dementia Mate Wareware Services in Aotearoa New Zealand Action Plan?
Hon Casey Costello: I am advised that during the July to September 2024 quarter, work underway on the National Palliative Care Work Programme continued to focus on developing consistent and equitable models of care to better support all New Zealanders who need palliative care.
I am further advised that the needs of those affected by dementia mate wareware were reflected in the analysis of Health New Zealand’s national survey on palliative care and considered by the Models of Palliative Care – Adult Working Group.
