2774 (2024). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: Does the Minister accept the Climate Change Commission's view that the transport sector could be almost completely decarbonised by 2050 and, if so, what specific steps will he take to achieve this?

Hon Simeon Brown: Through the development of the second emissions reduction plan the Government will set out the role of the Emissions Trading Scheme, and other government policies across different sectors, to achieve our legislated emission budgets and our overall net zero by 2050 goal. The Climate Change Commission’s advice is being considered as we prepare the second emissions reduction plan.
