Camilla Belich to the Minister of Education: How many recorded incidences of workplace bullying, if any, have occurred in each calendar year since 2015 in relation to any staff, employees, secondees, contractors, or office holders for whom the Minister has responsibility in connection with the portfolio?

Hon Erica Stanford: I refer the member to the attached table showing the number of Ministry of Education (the Ministry) records of alleged workplace bullying instances by calendar year since 2020. Data is not readily available for information prior to 2020. This is due to the way the Ministry recorded information at the time. Education New Zealand has had no recorded instances of workplace bullying from 2015 to 2025. From 2015 to 2025, the Education Review Office (ERO) has recorded six alleged instances of workplace bullying. From 2015 to 2025, the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) had three records of alleged workplace bullying. A breakdown by calendar year has not been provided for ERO and NZQA because the number of cases each year is fewer than five and releasing this information could compromise the privacy of individuals
