2571 (2026). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Education: What categories of workplace bullying allegations have been recorded in each calendar year since 2015 in relation to any staff, employees, secondees, contractors, or office holders for whom the Minister has responsibility in connection with the portfolio, broken down by type of behaviour, if any?

Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised that the Ministry of Education does not further categorise ‘workplace bullying’ allegations. The New Zealand Qualifications Authority recorded three allegations as bullying by a manager towards a staff member. Education New Zealand has had no recorded instances of workplace bullying from 2015 to 2025. I am advised that complaints regarding workplace bullying at the Education Review Office (ERO) were about verbal, social, and cyber bullying. A breakdown by calendar year has not been provided because the number of cases each year is fewer than five and releasing this information could compromise the privacy of individuals .
