2510 (2024). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: Has the Minister given any directions regarding the opportunities and challenges for the Emission Reductions Plan 2 or any indicative content that may be included and, if so, what?

Hon Simeon Brown: Following the general election and a change of government in late 2023, the intended emissions reduction policies foreshadowed by the previous Government are being reassessed. I have made it clear to officials that the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) is the Government’s key tool to reduce emissions.
