2504 (2024). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport

2504 (2024). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: What steps, if any, has the Minister taken or intend to take to address the number of road fatalities in New Zealand, noting the 374 road fatalities in the 2022 year?
Hon Simeon Brown: The Government is focused on addressing the highest contributing factors in fatal road crashes, including alcohol and drugs. The previous government introduced unworkable legislation to rollout roadside drug testing. I have received initial advice on the legislative changes required to fix this and am currently considering that advice.
