2415 (2025). Cushla Tangaere-Manuel to the Minister for Tourism and Hospitality: What specific measures, if any, are in place to track the effect of the digital nomad scheme?

Hon Louise Upston: As this is a facilitative change to all visitor visas, it is difficult to predict specific numbers and is not currently possible to track if visitors choose to use the ability to work for an offshore employer. However, we do know from overseas examples that digital nomad schemes are popular. Immigration New Zealand has seen an incredible amount of interest in people looking at the remote work information on their website since the first day we announced the policy. This is also my answer to written parliamentary questions 2420 (2025), 2421 (2025), 2422 (2025) and 2424 (2025).
