2368 (2026). Camilla Belich to the Prime Minister: How many cases of workplace bullying were referred to external investigators, mediators, the Employment Relations Authority, or other external bodies in each calendar year since 2015 in relation to any staff, employees, secondees, contractors, or office holders for whom the Minister has responsibility in connection with the portfolio, if any?
Rt Hon Christopher Luxon: In my capacity as Prime Minister, I am the responsible minister for the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC). The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) was a departmental agency hosted by DPMC until 25 September 2025.
Since 2015, I am advised for DPMC and NEMA staff (from 1 December 2019 to 25 September 2025) there have been six recorded incidents of workplace bullying and sexual harassment.
No further information on these incidents, including the investigations and outcomes, can be provided for privacy reasons. However, I can advise that there have been no proceedings with the Employment Relations Authority or Employment Court in the past ten financial years.
