2347 (2025). Shanan Halbert to the Minister for Auckland: What initiatives, if any, is he progressing in his Auckland portfolio?
Hon Simeon Brown: As the Member would have read in my Cabinet paper, 'coordination of government initiatives and engagement in Auckland,' as Minister for Auckland, I have an advocacy and coordination function, with responsibility for providing oversight and ensuring a whole-of government approach is taken to matters that have a significant or disproportionate impact for Auckland. I note that 57.8 per cent of Auckland voters elected our Government to get Auckland back on track, and that is what our Government is doing. This includes delivering tax relief for hardworking Aucklanders, avoiding a 25.8 per cent water rate hike with the delivery of Local Water Done Well, opening a new state-of-the-art radiology machine at the Auckland City Hospital Regional Cancer and Blood Service, and welcoming a new 24/7 police station in central Auckland to restore law and order. I refer the Member to the Beehive website to see upcoming initiatives as they are announced.
