2345 (2025). Shanan Halbert to the Minister of Transport: What are the Minister's priorities for Transport in Auckland?

Hon Chris Bishop: I am committed to improving transport outcomes in Auckland by creating a more reliable and efficient transport network that reduces congestion, drives economic and productivity growth, and supports increased housing supply. Our Government is investing in new transport infrastructure across Auckland. Through the 2024-27 National Land Transport Programme, four Roads of National Significance and four Roads of Regional Significance are being progressed in Auckland. We are focused on completing the City Rail Link project and associated upgrades to the rail network. We are also expanding Auckland’s rapid transit network through work on projects such as the Eastern Busway and Northwest Rapid Transit. I am also progressing legislation to reform transport governance and planning arrangements in Auckland, by increasing democratic accountability for local transport decision-making and strengthening the role of Government and Auckland Council in long-term integrated transport planning.
