2306 (2024). Hon James Shaw to the Minister of Climate Change: What correspondence, if any, has the Minister had regarding the upcoming advice for preparation of emissions budgets (2036-2040) due to be released on April 8th?

Hon Simon Watts: I have not received any correspondence regarding the upcoming advice for preparation of emissions budgets (2036-2040). The report that the Climate Change Commission has announced that it will release on 8 April 2024 is draft advice for consultation. Following receipt of the Commission’s final advice later this year, I will set the 2036-2040 emissions budget by the end of 2025, including considering and responding to the Commission’s independent advice, as required under the Climate Change Response Act.
