2256 (2024). Chlöe Swarbrick to the Minister of Conservation: What further consultation or information, if any, is necessary for the Minister to make a decision on the Proposed Hākaimangō-Matiatia (Northwest Waiheke) Marine Reserve?

Hon Tama Potaka: The Department of Conservation has advised that it is currently preparing substantive advice on the Hākaimangō-Matiatia (Northwest Waiheke) marine reserve application. I am advised that this will cover the relevant statutory considerations for my decision-making, including the Department’s analysis of whether any of the objections received through the public process should be upheld. The Department has advised that as part of this process, it is seeking to undertake further engagement with mana whenua on the application.
