2225 (2024). Hon Rachel Brooking to the Minister of Conservation: Would the Minister expect to be consulted before another minister or ministers make a one-stop-shop consenting and permitting process referral for a project?

Hon Tama Potaka: The Fast-track Approvals Bill requires joint Ministers to consult relevant portfolio Ministers as part of their referral decision. I would therefore expect to be consulted where a project may require conservation approvals. The Bill also specifically provides that the Minister of Conservation is a joint decision-maker on referrals when Wildlife Act approvals are included in the project.
