2210 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for ACC: How many Regulatory Impact Analysis exemptions, if any, has the Minister requested when bringing cabinet papers to Cabinet, since November 2023?

Hon Andrew Bayly: As the Regulatory Impact Analysis process is carried out independently of Ministers, I have not requested or received any exemptions when taking papers to Cabinet. The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) is responsible for ensuring ACC portfolio proposals are supported by Regulatory Impact Statements at Cabinet. MBIE has requested and received four exemptions on the basis that the proposals had minor or limited impacts. Each exemption request was considered against Cabinet’s Impact Analysis requirements and were deemed eligible for exemptions as they had localised and straightforward impacts, or would expand existing arrangements in a predictable fashion.
