2113 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What actions, if any, have been taken in the last quarter to increase the number of rural placements for med students?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that between October and December 2023, Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora expanded the Rural Medical Imersion Programme (RMIP) at Otago University by 10 students. Health New Zealand has also contracted the University of Auckland to establish a RMIP at Auckland University, which has not yet commenced.
