2087 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What actions, if any, have been taken in the last quarter to increase the number of maori and pacific trainees in the nurse practitioner training programme?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that between October and December 2023, Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora increased funding for the Nurse Practitioner Training Programme in 2023 which resulted in 121 funded nurse practitioner trainees being accepted into the 2024 training programme, including 17 Māori nurses and 5 Pacific nurses.
