2073 (2026). Hon Julie Anne Genter to the Associate Minister of Justice: What exemptions are in place to allow the adoption of adults in special circumstances?

Hon Nicole McKee: The Adoption Act 1955 does not allow for a person aged 20 or over to be adopted under New Zealand law, except where there is already an interim adoption order in force for that person.
