2064 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What actions, if any, have been taken in the last quarter to work with tertiary providers to increase student retention across all health programmes, particularly Māori and Pacific students?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that between October and December 2023, Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora completed a Wayfinders contract with the University of Auckland to provide cultural, academic and network support to Pacific learners in tertiary studies. Health New Zealand has also recruited a team to support a new internship programme for pacific learners seeking health careers.
