2025 (2025). Hon Jan Tinetti to the Associate Minister of Education: How much, if any, total funding does the Charter School Agency receive for operational funding of the agency?

Hon David Seymour: Budget 2024 set aside $28.2 million of departmental funding over four years for the Charter School Agency and third parties to provide resourcing and oversight for applications, contracting, performance and monitoring. Additional funding is allocated to the first two years of implementation for one-off spend such as: • legal advice for contract development and negotiation • external support partners for the charter schools who provide application, establishment and ongoing support • setup requirements to establish an operating model and appropriate capability, systems and processes to establish and monitor the schools in conjunction with other agencies such as the Ministry of Education and Education Review Office. Ongoing funding is expected to decrease once charter schools are established and operational. Any surplus funding will be transferred to future years or returned to The Treasury as appropriate.
