2024 (2026). Dr Tracey McLellan to the Minister of Corrections: What modelling has he seen, if any, regarding an increased prison population and the impact to Corrections resources, during the month of December?

Hon Mark Mitchell: In the month of December 2025, I received the following briefings which included broad information relating to an increased prison population and the impact this may have on Corrections resources. Those were: • B4886 Law and Order Ministers Meeting – 12 December 2025 • B5022 Gazette Notices: Corrections Notice for Waikeria Prison and Auckland Region Women’s Corrections Facility – 11 December 2025 Two briefings are withheld in accordance with Speakers’ Ruling 199/6. In addition, I received three further documents considered in scope, which relate to one of these briefings. The titles and contents of those three documents are also withheld in accordance with Speakers’ Ruling 199/6.
