1987 (2026). Teanau Tuiono to the Minister for Resources: Why is the Government discussing a critical minerals framework with the United States?

Hon Shane Jones: Discussions with the United States on critical mineral cooperation are informed by New Zealand's Minerals Strategy to 2040. The Minerals Strategy recognises that international cooperation on critical minerals contributes to strengthened critical supply chains and economic benefits for New Zealanders. The Minerals Strategy was published in January 2025 following public consultation.
