1964 (2026). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: Was the investigation into the December 2024 protected disclosure case involving Kāinga Ora contracting processes an internal investigation and if so, who decided that the allegations did not meet the threshold of serious wrongdoing?
Hon Chris Bishop: Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities advises me that the investigation into the December 2024 protected disclosure case involving the Kāinga Ora contracting processes was an internal investigation (led by an external barrister who worked for a short period within the Kāinga Ora legal team as a secondee). The Kāinga Ora investigation and legal opinion determined that this did not meet the threshold of serious wrongdoing. This finding was endorsed by the Chief People and Assurance Officer and the Chief Executive of Kāinga Ora.
