1885 (2026). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: Has the Minister been advised whether structured post-incident debriefs were undertaken with frontline staff following the Auckland and Southern hospital IT outages in January 2026, and if so, what risks or concerns, if any, were identified?

Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that post-incident reviews, which are a standard operational process following an outage, include engaging with hospitals and staff to capture their assessment of the impact of outages. This is part of finalising a post-incident review so that Health New Zealand can work on reducing the impact of any future incident.
