1882 (2024). Dr Tracey McLellan to the Minister of Corrections: What contraband by type, prison location, and quantity, if any, was found on prisoners or within prisons between 19 February 2024 and 25 February 2024?

Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that providing the number of contraband items according to where the item was found or the manner in which it was located would involve substantial collation and manual analysis. I am not prepared to ask my officials to carry out this task for the purposes of this response. Contraband may be found in a number of locations within or around a prison, including in prison cells, during perimeter searches, or on a prisoner's person. Contraband can also be found on a visitor's person or in their vehicles. I refer the member to the attached table which provides the number of contraband items found between 19 February 2024 and 25 February 2024, broken down by type and prison.
