Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What steps, if any, did Health NZ take to receive assurances from Canopy Health following the July 2025 cyber security incident regarding the security of patient information held on systems used to deliver government-funded breast screening, oncology, and diagnostic services and on what date were these steps taken?

Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that Health New Zealand worked directly with Canopy Health’s Incident Management Team to share information and intelligence in relation to the incident, including through regular verbal briefings. I am further advised that Canopy Health has assured Health NZ that it has put heightened monitoring and system protections in place to ensure that an incident of this nature will not happen again.
