Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What steps, if any, has he taken following the Canopy Health cyber security incident to ensure that private providers delivering publicly funded health services comply with Government expectations on data security, breach detection, and timely patient notification and on what date were these taken?

Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that Health NZ provided appropriate support to Canopy Health while it managed its response to the incident. Health NZ publishes guidance for private providers outlining the security and privacy requirements they are expected to meet.
