1818 (2024). Lan Pham to the Minister for Biosecurity: What advice, if any, has the Minister received on Avian Flu and it's potential arrival in New Zealand?

Hon Andrew Hoggard: Since becoming Minister for Biosecurity, I have received briefings and regular updates from Ministry for Primary Industries officials on a range of biosecurity risks, including Avian Influenza. This has covered changes in the worldwide distribution of Avian Influenza and work underway to improve New Zealand’s surveillance and response capabilities.
