1736 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Associate Minister of Transport: What consultations did the Minister’s departments, if any, open with employees around any changes to employment roles, employment numbers and any other employment conditions, from the period 9 December 2024 to 24 January 2025, and what date are any such consultations expected to close?
Hon James Meager: I am advised that the Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand (which includes the Aviation Security Service) (CAA) opened a change proposal for consultation on 24 October 2024. The consultation period closed on 15 November 2024. The final decisions were communicated on 31 January 2025.
The changes result in 122 positions being disestablished. Most positions disestablished are due to reduced layers of management or reducing duplication in back-office positions. A total of 117 new positions have been created, including an increase in positions at the frontline.
The changes make no changes to employment conditions.
I am advised by Maritime NZ that no consultations were opened with employees by them during the period 9 December 2024 - 24 January 2025, and therefore no roles are affected.
I am advised that from 9 December 2024 to 24 January 2025 the Transport Accident Investigation Commission did not open any consultations of this nature.
