1590 (2024). Darleen Tana to the Minister for Oceans and Fisheries: Will MPIs predictions of the number of Hector's and Maui dolphins caught by set netting and trawling be amended on the basis of the information gathered so far from the review of footage from cameras on boats; If so, how?

Hon Shane Jones: I am advised that upcoming protected species research including bycatch estimation, the marine mammal risk assessment and Hector’s and Māui dolphin risk assessment will all use data verified by cameras, alongside other information.
