Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Customs: Approximately how many pages of communication, if any, has the Minister's department, if any, sent to the Ministry for Regulation - including correspondence, meeting requests, briefings and all other communication, across all communication channels including emails, text, and social media messages?

Hon Casey Costello: I am advised that the New Zealand Customs Service (Customs) sends regular communication to the Ministry for Regulation across a variety of mediums. This communication includes matters such as the creation and implementation of regulatory capability building modules, the Red Tape Portal, and consultations on Regulatory Impact Statements. There is also communication regarding other business, such as consultations on legislative matters and providing references for prospective staff. Providing an approximation of the number of pages of communication sent by Customs to the Ministry for Regulation would require substantial collation from Customs officials and I do not believe it is in the public interest to provide this information.
