1506 (2024). Lan Pham to the Minister for Biosecurity: Does the Minister have any concerns about the potential arrival of Avian Flu in Aotearoa and the potential impact on biosecurity?

Hon Andrew Hoggard: I am advised the worldwide spread of Avian Influenza is a concern to New Zealand, given the risk of introduction via migratory birds. The Ministry for Primary Industries has advised that they are working closely with the Department of Conservation and Ministry of Health to continually monitor the situation here and overseas, and to coordinate activities related to readiness for this disease.
