1502 (2026). Tamatha Paul to the Minister of Corrections: What is the comparison of the following offences as a proportion of the prison population at September 2024 and September 2025? - Driving offences; - Trespass notices; - Resisting or obstructing police; - Breach of protections orders; - Retail theft; and - Disorderly behaviour offences.

Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that Corrections uses the classifications set out in the Australian and New Zealand Standard Offence Classification (ANZSOC) standard when reporting on offence data. I am further advised that the standard does not specifically categorise some offences as requested by the member. I am advised that the ANZSOC is a framework which classifies offences under three categories including divisions, subdivisions and groups. The divisions category groups broad types of offences together, which are then further broken down into the subdivisions and groups categories, which group together more detailed offence categories. I refer the member to the attached tables, which provides a comparison of the offences listed above, by the most similar ANZSOC subdivisions and groups categories, as a proportion of the remand and sentenced prison populations in September 2024 and September 2025.
