1495 (2026). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: What has been the total cost, if any, of Kāinga Ora demolitions in the first half of 2025/26 and how many homes, if any, were demolished over that period?

Hon Chris Bishop: Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities advises me that the cost for demolition, deconstruction and relocations in 2023/24 was $71.98 million, 2024/25 was $33.7 million, and 2025/26 (to 31 December 2025) was $10.73 million. Kāinga Ora demolished and deconstructed 1,071 homes in 2023/24, 751 in 2024/25, and 140 in 2025/26 (to 31 December 2025). This is also my answer to WPQ 1496 (2026).
