1465 (2026). Camilla Belich to the Minister for Emergency Management and Recovery: What training or professional development support, if any, is available to local authority and Civil Defence Emergency Management staff to improve preparedness for, and response to, landslides and slips?
Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that local authority and Civil Defence Emergency Management personnel have access to a wide range of operational, leadership, technical, and hazard specific training opportunities. Examples include:

• New Zealand Geotechnical Society and international workshops providing technical and geotechnical training on landslide science and response.
• Tertiary education providers also offer a range of training opportunities.
