1410 (2025). Chlöe Swarbrick to the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs: Who is the Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment referring to in its Adjustments to the climate-related disclosures regime discussion document when it states that some issuers are substantially disadvantaged by the climate-related disclosures regime?
Hon Andrew Bayly: Various stakeholders including climate reporting entities have raised concerns with me about the climate-related disclosures regime settings including that:
• New Zealand issuers face a competitive disadvantage when the New Zealand and Australian settings are compared
• the climate reporting requirements may provide a disincentive to listing
• the potential for deemed director liability is causing directors to take an unduly cautious approach to reporting.
Given these concerns, I am undertaking public consultation to gain further information and evidence about these matters.
