1378 (2025). Ingrid Leary to the Minister for ACC: If psychiatrists are assessing survivors of complex sexual trauma, where do they get their training and who does it?
Hon Andrew Bayly: I am advised by ACC that a psychiatrist must be named on a health contract to deliver assessment services. The supplier of a health contract must supply evidence of the individual’s annual practising certificate, appropriate membership and registration, qualifications, experience, and other requirements as set out in the relevant health contract. The psychiatrist must meet all the criteria for the relevant health contract to then be able to provide services. I am further advised that ACC does not determine where or by whom psychiatrists attain their training.
