1315 (2024). Tamatha Paul to the Associate Minister of Justice: What, if any, shooting clubs or ranges have closed down since the introduction of new regulations due to an inability to meet the new regulations?

Hon Nicole McKee: No clubs or ranges have closed down since the introduction of the new regulations due to an inability to meet the new regulations. Police has advised that, since December 2022, over 200 improvement notices have been issued to clubs and ranges (the majority being to ranges). No clubs or ranges have been instructed to close by the regulator. Police understand a number of range operators have voluntarily chosen to temporarily close ranges (either in full, by closing the range, or in part, by closing lanes) while the required work is undertaken.
