1295 (2024). Tamatha Paul to the Associate Minister of Justice: How many prohibited firearms, if any, does the Ministry of Justice estimate exist in Aotearoa New Zealand?

Hon Nicole McKee: Police data as of January 2024 shows there were 1,678 firearms licences endorsed to possess prohibited firearms (as this number relates to endorsements, the number of unique persons is likely to be lower, as one person may hold multiple endorsements).
