1236 (2026). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Local Government: Was he satisfied that Auckland Council’s handling of the election of the Papatoetoe subdivision of the Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board complied with all legislative and regulatory requirements; if so, on what basis?

Hon Simon Watts: Yes. Local councils are responsible for administering their own elections. In this instance, the matter was referred to Police by the Council and its Electoral Officer, which is the appropriate process.
