1229 (2026). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Local Government: What assurances, if any, has he sought to ensure the for the new election to be held for the Papatoetoe subdivision of the Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board is protected from similar irregularities seen in the original election?

Hon Simon Watts: Local elections are run by local councils. I have confidence in Auckland Council and its electoral officer to run a successful election in accordance with local electoral law.
