1223 (2024). Hon Dr Duncan Webb to the Minister of Justice: What advice, if any, has the Minister received on the impact of banning gang insignia in public places on gang membership numbers?

Hon Paul Goldsmith: I have been advised that banning gang insignia will contribute to increased public confidence in law and order. Public concern about gangs, serious violent offending, and gun violence has increased sharply since 2017, alongside the growth in gang membership.
