1169 (2024). Lan Pham to the Associate Minister for the Environment: What actions or corrections, if any, does the Minister expect from dairy farmers who did not report their synthetic fertiliser use in the year 2022/2023?

Hon Andrew Hoggard: All dairy farmers are expected to report their nitrogen use. How they do this is the responsibility of the regional councils. A lot of effort has gone into making the reporting easier than it previously was. The fertiliser companies, Ballance and Ravensdown provide software tools for automated reporting and the regional councils provide an online nitrogen reporting portal for farmers who wish to enter the data themselves.
