1119 (2024). Lan Pham to the Minister for the Environment: How does the Minister expect to measure improvement in freshwater quality, if at all?

Hon Penny Simmonds: Information on river, lake, and groundwater quality is regularly published by Statistics New Zealand, and featured in independent environmental reports under the Environmental Reporting Act 2015, which identify long-term trends and changes over time. Long-term trends are important to establishing fresh water quality to account for variability in short-term monitoring.
