1112 (2024). Chlöe Swarbrick to the Minister of Climate Change: What plans, if any, does the Government have to ensure communities, homes, buildings and places are resilient enough to cope with the increased frequency and intensity of climate change-induced extreme weather events?

Hon Simon Watts: New Zealand’s first national adaptation plan, published in August 2022, sets out a six year work programme to help make New Zealand homes, infrastructure and communities more resilient to climate change and manage priority climate risks. The Plan includes includes actions that cover many Ministerial portfolios. It is a priority for this Government to gather and share climate risk information so that people can make good risk informed decisions. This will also underpin an evidence-based approach to any further policy interventions.
