1107 (2024). Hon Jenny Salesa to the Minister of Customs: By how much, if at all, has each of the Minister’s Departments, Ministries, and Agencies reduced its headcount to achieve a 6.5% savings as at 27 February?

Hon Casey Costello: I am advised that as at 27 February 2024, the New Zealand Customs Service (Customs) has not reduced its headcount to achieve 6.5 percent savings. On 22 February 2024, Customs senior leadership advised all staff that expressions of interest will be sought for voluntary redundancy and enhanced early retirement options. This response includes the Border Executive Board Secretariat as these staff are considered employees of the New Zealand Customs Service.
