1106 (2024). Hon Jenny Salesa to the Minister of Customs: By how much, if at all, does each of the Minister’s Departments, Ministries, and Agencies intend reduce its headcount to achieve a 6.5% savings as at 27 February?

Hon Casey Costello: I can advise that the New Zealand Customs Service has been asked to submit a proposal for achieving a 6.5 percent reduction in its Crown funding level from 2024/25 onwards. As this proposal is under active consideration as part of the Budget 2024 process, I am unable to provide specific details on the impact that this proposal will have on headcount numbers, if any, as at 27 February 2024. This response includes the Border Executive Board Secretariat as these staff are considered employees of the New Zealand Customs Service.
