1101 (2024). Chlöe Swarbrick to the Minister of Climate Change: What advice, if any, has the Minister received on the Climate Change Commission's forecasted ability to deliver independent advice?
Hon Simon Watts: All advice from the Climate Change Commission is independent advice. I have been advised by the Climate Change Commission and the Ministry for the Environment that the request for advice on New Zealand’s second Nationally Determined Contribution made by the previous Minister of Climate Change under section 5K of the Climate Change Response Act 2002 has not been progressed due to a lack of dedicated funding. I will shortly be receiving advice from Ministry officials on options for next steps.
I am advised that the Commission’s other statutory deliverables for 2023/24 and 2024/25 are on track.
