973 (2024). Helen White to the Minister of Police: What advice, reports, briefings, aide memoires, or any other documents, if any, has the Minister or any member of their Office received about the impact of vapes and/or other nicotine products on the safety of businesses and/or community safety since 27 November 2023, to the week of 19 February 2024, by title and date?

Hon Mark Mitchell: My office received the following advice via email on 4 December 2023: Smokefree: • Police held concerns that the reduction in tobacco retailers from 6000 to 600 would significantly increase the risk that these retailers would be the target of retail crime. • Police worked closely with the Ministry of Health around the security requirements and the compliance regime if the number of providers was to decrease.
