934 (2026). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: What proportion of the funding gap for the Roads of National Significance programme does he expect to be met from direct Crown funding over the next 20 years?

Hon Chris Bishop: Consistent with the Government Policy Statement on Land Transport 2024, I will consider all funding and financing tools available, including the use of tolls and Public Private Partnerships, for all major transport projects including the RoNS programme. I am also advised by NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) that decisions on funding delivery for the Roads of National Significance programme are ongoing. No decisions have been made on how much Crown funding may be required.
